Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How do I sign up?

First, you’ll need to create an account by clicking here. The main page of your account will be the Dashboard. From the Dashboard you can purchase lessons, schedule lessons, cancel lessons, and view your child’s level information. You will then purchase lessons that come in “packages” of 5, 10, and 20 lessons. After purchasing lessons, you will schedule the individual lessons with the instructor you choose on the dates and times that work for you. If you need to reschedule a lesson, it can also be done from the Dashboard.

  • How often should we come for lessons?

We recommend coming 5 days in a row for the first week to help build a strong foundation and then at least 2-3 times a week after that or whatever your schedule allows. Swim lessons are unlikely to be effective and lasting without consistency. The more repetition and consistency, the more likely kids are to retain what they learn.

  • Where are you located?

Our primary year round indoor location is at Kia Ora Fitness in Kennewick off of Gage. Our outdoor, seasonal locations are in at Garden Park Pool in North Richland at 1102 Pine St, Richland, WA 99354 and our residential location in West Richland at 3841 Mount Adams View Drive.

  • Can your instructors come to our pool to teach?

Yes! We can come to you. There is a travel fee for our instructor to travel. If you have a minimum of 9 kids available for private lessons at the pool then the travel fee is waived. Email us for availability and other details.

  • Do you offer swim lessons to infants and toddlers?

We do offer lessons for infants and toddlers ages 6 months and up. Infants and toddlers make great little swimmers. Our approach helps infants and toddlers enjoy the water while also focusing on safety and survival skills. When selecting an instructor for your infant or toddler, please be sure to select one who indicates in their bio that they “work well with: all ages”.

  • Can I get in the water with my infant or toddler during lessons?

Parents are welcome to sit close by during lessons or even get in the water with their infants and toddler during the lesson IF it helps them in their progression. We find that some do better with mom and dad in the water or close by and some do better with them out of sight. We are open to whatever works best for your child to learn effectively. You can chat with your instructor before or after each lesson to determine what learning environment is best for your child.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Lessons can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. If something comes up within 24 hours of the lesson (illness, appointment, etc.), you can bring a sibling, family member, or a friend to use the lesson, or trade with someone else. It is not our responsibility to find a replacement for your lesson. We understand kids get sick and sometimes it is last minute. We allow ONE same-day cancelation per child for illness. If your child wakes up sick, contact us at 509-578-9135 or info@splashnswimschool.com BEFORE 10:00am. The lesson will be credited back to your account and you can reschedule the lesson to another date. Make sure to reschedule future lessons if you anticipate your child being sick. We ask parents to only bring children once they are symptom free for 24 hours. NOTE: CONTACT MUST BE MADE BEFORE 10:00am TO RECEIVE CREDIT. Cancellation can be done using My Dashboard.

  • What should we bring to swim lessons?

Swimsuit, towel, goggles, and sunscreen. Below are links to purchase some of our favorites. If you bring snacks, we ask you to clean up after yourself and to try to bring non-messy snacks. We have restrooms that can be used as changing rooms before or after lessons.

  • What swim diapers are required for swimmers who are not potty trained?

We require BOTH a disposable swim diaper and a reusable snap swim diaper. Swimmers who are not potty-trained should where the disposable diaper, the reusable diaper and their swim suit. Here are our favorites linked below:

  • What sunscreen do you recommend?

  • Does my swimmer need goggles and which should I get?

Most children do better swimming with goggles so we do recommend that your swimmer has a pair. There are several brands that do not work well. If the goggles are leaking water or not staying on well then your child will not like to use them. We have found that children enjoy swimming more when they are wearing goggles. Here are some that we recommend linked below:
